EXCELLENCE ON THE MAT AND IN THE CLASSROOM LIBERTY HS - DAVID CALKINS JR.

The CIF North Coast Section is proud to honor Liberty HS senior David Calkins Jr., a true example of excellence in the classroom and in athletics. Carrying a 4.04 GPA while competing in Football and Wrestling, David has shown the discipline to succeed at the highest levels.

This summer, he represented Team USA at the U17 Greco-Roman World Championships in the 92kg weight class. In his first World event, David defeated opponents from Chinese Taipei and Croatia to reach the quarterfinals, then battled through the repechage. He went on to shut out Brazil’s Raphael Rodrigues Duarte 9-0 and secure a bronze medal with a 4-0 victory over Moldova’s Ionut Patru, last year’s U15 European Champion.

His performance not only earned Team USA its third medal of the tournament but also highlighted his hard work, toughness, and commitment to excellence.

The North Coast Section celebrates David as a role model who proves success is possible both on the mat and in the classroom.
