Berkeley High School Girls Basketball - Sportsmanship
On Friday night (1/23), during their league matchup against Arroyo, the Berkeley High School girls basketball team turned the game into something truly special by declaring it Teacher Appreciation Night. Each player selected a BHS teacher who had made a meaningful impact on their school experience, and coaches personally invited those educators to attend, without telling them which player had chosen them.
Before tip-off, the team hosted a heartfelt pregame ceremony. Teachers were seated on the bench as each was announced like a starting lineup, running through a cheer tunnel to meet the “mystery” player and receive a gift. The moment created a powerful reminder that high school athletics are deeply connected to the classroom and the overall student experience.
It was a night filled with gratitude, joy, and connection, celebrating the educators who shape lives and the student-athletes who recognize their impact, both on and off the court.
