CALIFORNIA SENATE AND ASSEMBLY PRESENT 100-YEAR ANNIVERSARY RESOLUTIONS TO NORTH COAST SECTION, CIF
|The California Senate and Assembly presented resolutions Monday, October 21, 2013, at the NCS Board of Managers meeting congratulating North Coast Section, CIF for the 100-year anniversary of the organization. Big thanks to Senator Mark DeSaulnier and Assemblywomen Joan Buchanan, sponsors of the respective resolutions. Also co-sponsoring the resolutions were Senators Ellen Corbett, Loni Hancock, Mark Leno, Jim Nielsen, Lois Wolk and Leland Yee, and Assembly members Tom Ammiano, Susan Bonilla, Rob Bonta, Wesley Chesbro, Jim Frazier, Marc Levine, Bill Quirk, Nancy Skinner, Phil Ting, Bob Wieckowski and Mariko Yamada.|

Bud Beemer and the late Jim Sperou Receive the NCS Distinguished Service Award
|Bud Beemer, former teacher and administrator in the Mt. Diablo USD and current league commissioner of the Bay Valley Athletic League, and the late Jim Sperou, former teacher and coach at Washington High School and first commissioner of the Mission Valley Athletic League, serving 28 years, received the NCS Distinguished Service Award at the NCS Board of Managers meeting Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Mira Vista Golf and Country Club, El Cerrito. Bud continues to serves NCS member schools in his current position as league commissioner and member of the NCS Sports Advisory Committee. Jim Sperou, who passed away in 2008, taught at Washington High School from 1955 to 1964 before being hired as the Commissioner of the Mission Valley Athletic League, a league created in 1964 to serve Irvington, James Logan, Kennedy, Mission San Jose, Newark and Washington High Schools. Congratulations to Bud and the family of Jim, present to accept his award.|
